INTELLIGENCE ®SM AT WORK.
Spiritual Intelligence refers to the skills,
abilities and behaviors required to develop and maintain a relationship to the
Ultimate Source of All Being, succeed in the search for meaning in life, find a
moral and ethical path to help guide us through life, and act out our sense of
meaning and values in our personal life and in our interpersonal relationships.
Just as there are numerous cognitive and
emotional skills, there are spiritual skills that comprise Spiritual
Intelligence.®SM You can improve
your spiritual well being through study and practice of skills like:

SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE ®SM AT WORK
More and more frequently my colleagues have
asked me about how the concerns of spirituality can be brought to bear on work
place issues. There are at least three levels at which this integration can
occur.
1. Individuals can bring
spirituality into the work place as a part of their own character. The practices
of mindfulness and character development that are so much a part of Spiritual
Intelligence®SM can be a tremendous asset to people in all aspects of life. How
we approach a task or talk to co-workers or customers is both a practical issue
and a spiritual one. The spiritual person brings a value added dimension to
everything he or she does. That dimension is reflected in things such as
attitudes towards diversity, dealing with conflict, customer service, and
working as part of a team.
2. In today’s complex business climate we often have multiple possibilities
for where we will be employed. Spirituality may be one of the criteria used to
screen potential employers or to make a decision to stay with or leave a firm.
We can compare and contrast our personal values with those of the organization.
Some questions you can ask are:
Does the organization treat its employees in a compassionate manner?
Are customers treated with respect?
When strategic decisions are made is there a concern for the environmental and
human impacts that will occur?
We sometimes tend to compartmentalize the various aspects of our lives, keeping
spirituality separate from work. Unfortunately, questions about spirituality and
work may not be raised, because such questions and their answers may be seen as
threatening the security of an organization or employee. However, it is possible
to incorporate values into any individual or corporate mission statement.
If you would like to bring spirituality into your personal work or your
organization we can help. Send an e-mail to yaacov@spiritualintelligence.com
